Day 1: How I Organize My Workflow

Hey y'all! AS OF TODAY, I'm going to post EVERY DAY!

That's right! You heard it here.

So lets talk about my workflow...

First off, I love everything about music. If I didn't, I would have given up a long time ago. I'll preface this next part by saying that any workflow won't matter if you don't love what you're doing.

The music making process is different for everybody, and to go as long as I have without stopping is a testament to my having a sustainable workflow (In short, lots of people give up at this point because the don't have a strong enough following). So to start, I only make music from Monday thru Friday. If I have an idea, I make a note on my phone or make a mental note and then prepare it for Monday.

This is what I work on:

1.) Singing Skills

2.) Producing Music/ Learning Music Production Skills

3.) Guitar/Piano practice

4.) Listening to other people's music (by genre so I can get an idea of how to mesh those sounds)

5.) Music Theory

-----

Specifically, I do the following:

1.) Singing Lessons - Every Wednesday

2.) Daily music production - I start at any time, and I stop whenever I feel like I've accomplished enough for the day.

3.) I have a strong foundation for piano and guitar, but my priority is music production and singing. For this reason, I just pick up the guitar when I feel like it or play some music on my piano for the same reason.

4.) I'm certain there are lots of people who consume music as much as me, but while I listen for pleasure, I also listen for ideas on how to make my own music better. It's such a passive activity that I can do while working out at the gym, driving in the car, listening when I'm gaming or just pumping up the volume of a dope track in my room. It's fun, and shouldn't feel like work because it isn't.

5.) Music theory is simple in the overall view, but it's also very technical as you dive into it deeper. While it's not my favorite, I will still learn about music theory when time permits.

As you can see, my workflow is free-flowing and if I didn't do it this way, I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much.

Well then! Day 1... woo! I truly hope you enjoyed reading this. See you tomorrow!
